Summary
The film "Prisoners of Paradise," an adaptation of Romesh Gunesekera's novel, is reviewed as an insipid tale of forbidden love set in colonial Mauritius in 1925. It follows 17-year-old Englishwoman Lucy (Ellie Bamber) who falls for Krishna (Mehdi Dehbi), a local worker on her uncle's sugar plantation, amidst themes of racism and class divide.
