On August 10, 1972, a large Earth-grazing fireball, later named the "Great Daylight Fireball," passed through the sky over North America, entering over Utah and exiting over Alberta, Canada, without hitting the ground. This rare daytime event was caused by an object estimated to be 10 to 45 feet in diameter.
